TEORA – Reaching for the Top of the Organization: Simple Plan – Chapter 63.1

Tsurugi! Niina! Can you hear me?!

The Evil Organization [Anthrax].
There was a considerable disparity between [Anthrax] and other evil organizations.

Originating from a small island in South East Asia, they were previously no more than a tribe of cultists. Their history was ancient, and their existence was not known to the world until the beginning of the 22nd century.

In the worshiping of their god, even though it was the 22nd century, they [offered human sacrifices] and [refused scientific civilization] in order [to crush all other religions]. That was how they would be labeled after the world found out.

Believers of their religion understood that the rest of society would never accept them. That was why they decided to hide, but a particular incident brought them out to the spotlight.

More specifically, it was when [Anthrax] was discovered offering up women as sacrifices to their gods, and an outsider managed to get hold of footage of it, uploading it to the internet.

Religion still existed in the 22nd century, but each religion centered around “humanitarian” development and other general purposes. It advocated peace towards modern society.

Furthermore, there were no more isolated villages and tribal societies in the 22nd century. Due to the influx of technology and telecommunications in the early 21st century, issues like long distance were fixed.

If one were to think wishfully, the world was now at “peace.” This was modern society.

There was no way war would start just because of religious differences nor a suppressed tribe.

Living in a tropical rain forest, wearing masks, refusing modern civilization, eating raw meat, and making human sacrifices. That image alone was too sensational for the world, and so, they labeled their society as inhumane.

The world wanted them to change.

They sent emissaries to talk with them, but they were turned away. The [Guardians], now concerned about the sacrificial rituals, stepped it.

The [Guardians] went in fully armed, but thought that they wouldn’t need to use it since, “they were no more than a tribal society on an island,” and, “if we pop such fireworks and shine a flashlight to their face, they would submit then and there.”

As one would see from the aftermath, they were gravely mistaken.

[Anthrax], worshiping their ancient god, possessed a power that no other evil organization could hope to attain.

[The God of Darkness], or at least what it translated to, was the name of their god. What was known was that shamans could summon [Magic Beasts] through rituals and control them.

In its simplest form, they could summon a beast to fight for them and could contract the beast to a person. If the contract was breached, the beast would tear up the contract breaker and devour him.

The beasts were strong. That much could be said after the invading [Guardians] were massacred by them.

This incident once again stirred the world. [Anthrax] was labeled as a dangerous entity.

Some organizations wanted to reason ]with them and, “know what they are thinking,” while some wanted to “get rid of these dangerous group.” Such a topic was controversial after the massacre of the invading force.

It was shown from then on that various institutions and weapons were of no use.

Something horrendous was about to happen to the world. [Anthrax] was passive all this time, remaining in their island, but that too was about to change.

“We are only living according to our beliefs, but the ‘outside world’ keeps on bothering us. The enemy they are sending to us is growing stronger with each encounter. At this rate, we will be annihilated. Then, what do we do? We will give those pagans something to look at. We will spread our god, Belladona, throughout the world. Anyone who opposes this ideal should just be thrown to the beasts. It will be a massacre. The world will belong to our God and us.”

It didn’t take long for such thoughts to pop up among [Antrax] members.

A lone genius known as ‘Benante’ emerged from the ranks of [Anthrax].

Benante suggested that they venture out from their island. He declared that he was a prophet from their god and was successful in agitating his tribe, masterfully using his charisma.

Using magical beasts to devour humans, he gained power. In the process, Benante learned that they weren’t the only one who wanted to take over the world. He acknowledges the existence of such evil organizations, and at times they made alliances when needed. All to conquer the world.

Time passed, and it was reported that several thousand humans already perished in the hands of the magical beasts. [Anthrax] now held its power by tapping into God’s domain by summoning such beasts.

It didn’t matter who started it anymore, but to the civilian population that lived peacefully, [Anthrax] was definitely [Evil].

So this was how [Anthrax], from a small island tribe in South East Asia, became an organization feared by the world, and was acknowledged by its fellow evil organizations.

  1. Welcome back, thank you for translating this Kyunrou! That was an interesting setting chapter, although it makes me wonder if the lone genius fellow will become an ally or enemy for Neito.
